we go to hollow three in two of the most underrated months of the season — march and november. these dates aren’t random: this is when you usually get clean, smaller swells that are perfect for learning tube riding and practicing fast, controlled turns.
in march and november the spots stay much quieter, that means more waves, more time in the water, and a much more relaxed atmosphere compared to the peak-season crowd.
these are also the only trips i run that last 15 days. the longer format is intentional: over two weeks we almost always catch 1–2 solid swells, and we also have extra buffer in case of bad weather or rain, so we still end up getting as many surf days as possible.

our three-bedroom villa is just a short walk away from one of the best surf breaks in indonesia and arguably the world: “ht’s,” short for “hollow tree’s” or “lance’s right.”

known locally as ht’s or lances right, is one of the best and most consistent fast, barreling right-handers in the world.

you’ll find a variety of beach breaks with shifting peaks, plenty of waves, and fun, playful sections. these spots are especially good when there’s no swell, offering a great option to surf clean, enjoyable sand-bottom waves and keep the sessions fun and relaxed.

bintangs is a fun, rippable right-hand reef break on the southern end of sipora island in the mentawai archipelago. it’s often considered one of the more underrated waves in the region, offering a slabby take-off that can go into a quick barrel and then open into a bowly wall with plenty of room for turns.

monkeys is a left-hand reef that always offers a little bit of everything. every wave at monkeys is different, with some offering barrel sections, others steep faces, and others mushy shoulders perfect for cutbacks.

How to define your level?
